Can a spouse or guest attend sessions?
Yes, if your spouse or guest purchases a registration, they can attend all sessions. If you would like your spouse or guest to attend the Saturday luncheon or annual banquet, you may purchase individual tickets for them.

I have last minute questions regarding the conference. Who can I speak with about them?
IML office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our phone number is 217-525-1220. You may also send us your questions via our Conference contact form. We will respond to your questions within 1 business day. Please note the hours of the Conference Registration Desk for this year's conference. IML staff will be at the registration desk to answer any questions you have.
I was given a name badge when I registered. Do I need to wear it at the conference?
Please wear your conference badge to all functions including social events at the conference.
Is lunch included on Friday and Saturday?
Yes, luncheon on Saturday is included in the "Total Conference" Package and in the "One Day Only Saturday" package. There will be a limited number of boxed lunches available in the Exhibit Hall on Friday.
Do I have to be registered to go through the Exhibit Expo?
No, you do not need to register to go through the Exhibit Expo.
What do I need to do when I arrive for the conference?
What you do initially depends on what time you arrive in Chicago. Check-in time at the Hilton hotel is 3 p.m. If you arrive before the 3 p.m. check-in time, you may wish to go directly to the IML Conference Registration Desk to pick up your registration packet (or to register On-Site). The IML Conference Registration Desk is located near the 8th Street entrance on the main floor of the hotel.
Everyone attending the conference must be registered including officials, spouses, speakers, guests and exhibitors. Registration permits you to attend all sessions, the Get Acquainted Reception on Thursday evening and the President’s Reception on Saturday evening.
Hours for the Conference Registration Desk are as follows:
Thursday, September 22 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, September 23 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, September 24 - 8 a.m. to Noon
If you arrive after 3:00 p.m., please check in to your hotel as soon as possible.
What is the smoking policy at the conference?
The entire Hilton hotel is smoke-free, except in designated smoking rooms.
What receptions are open to attendees?
This depends on the registration type you registered for. If you registered for the Total Conference Package, then you may attend The Get Acquainted Reception on Thursday evening and the President's Reception on Saturday evening. If you signed up for Thursday only you may attend the The Get Acquainted Reception on Thursday evening. Friday or Saturday only registration does not permit entry to either of the two receptions.
Where are the Stevens Rooms where some of the sessions will be held?
The Stevens Rooms are in the Northwest Exhibit Hall, Lower Level. Some sessions may be held in the Continental Ballroom on the Lobby level. Here is a map of those two levels.
What are our parking options for the Annual Conference?
For those of you who are planning on driving to the Hilton Chicago for the Illinois Municipal League Annual Conference, please be aware of your parking options.
The Hilton Chicago has a parking garage, and the IML has negotiated a 30% discount on the self-parking and valet-parking. This rate is only good at the Hilton parking garage. If you are staying at the Hilton overnight, show your parking ticket at check-in to the Hilton front desk clerk who will apply the correct discount for each night of your stay. If you are driving in for only a few hours during the day, you will need to pick-up a discount parking pass from the IML registration desk.

Can I register onsite?
Yes, onsite registration will be available. You may pay by cash, check (municipal, firm or personal) or credit card (Visa or MasterCard only). We will no longer invoice you after the conference.

Can spouse/guest attend the reception without registering?
Yes, spouse/guests can attend the receptions with you without being registered. However, only registered conference attendees will receive drink tickets. (Four tickets for each reception; two liquor and two soda.)
Do session presenters need to make hotel reservations for the conference or will IML do that?
All conference attendees and presenters must make their own hotel arrangements. Session presenters will be provided hotel instructions upon confirmation of their session.
Does IML accept credit cards for Advance Registration payment?
Yes, the IML accepts Visa or Mastercard for your Conference Advance Registration payment. This payment for your Conference Advance Registration does not include payment for your hotel. Hotel payment must be paid directly to the hotel when you are making your hotel reservations.
If I need to cancel our attendee conference reservation, what is the procedure, time frame and will I get a full refund?
For conference attendee registrations, a processing fee will be charged regardless of the reason for cancellation (including medical emergencies). Registrants who are unable to attend the conference may appoint a substitute. All cancellations must be in writing and mailed, faxed (217-525-7438) or emailed (email@example.com) to the IML office. Cancellations will not be accepted by telephone.
No refunds will be issued after 4:30 p.m. on September 8, 2016.
Processing Fee Schedule:
- $50 processing fee, per attendee, on all cancellations after 4:30 p.m. on September 8, 2016.
- Extra Lunch & Banquet tickets - $25 processing fee before September 8, 2016. No refunds after September 8.
If I register for the Municipal Attorneys Fall Seminar, may I attend the entire IML Conference?
The registration form for the Municipal Attorneys Fall Seminar gives you the option to sign up for the one day Attorneys Seminar (earning CLE credit hours) or the IML Conference Total Package. Signing up for the entire IML Conference Total Package on this form includes the Attorneys Seminar.
You must include your ARDC# when signing up for either package.
Is there a spouse registration?
While there is no spouse/guest registration, you may purchase an additional ticket for the Saturday luncheon and/or banquet for your spouse/guest.

Are all of the meeting rooms and exhibit halls handicap accessible?
All conference activities and facilities are accessible to persons with disabilities. Elevators are available for access to all meeting rooms. For any other handicapped or hearing impaired needs, please contact the hotel. If you need assistance with food service at any of the functions, please notify the hotel staff and someone will assist you.
How do I cancel my hotel reservations?
If you are staying at the Hilton Hotel, cancellations and changes must be made directly with the hotel, either online at www.hilton.com or by phone at 312-922-4400. Reservations must be canceled directly with the hotel at least 72 hours prior to arrival. Lodging reservations not canceled 72 hours prior to arrival will be billed for the first night’s room and tax.
How do I reserve a hotel room?
The IML reserves a block of rooms at the Hilton Chicago. You may contact the Hilton Chicago at 312-922-4400 and request the IML room block. Room tax is 17.4%. Check in is 3 p.m.; check out is 11 a.m. All lodging requests must be guaranteed with a credit card. (The card will not be charged until you check in or if you are a “no show.”) Your city may establish credit and direct billing at the hotel after rooms have been booked online by contacting the Hilton credit department.
Rooms are no longer available in the Hilton Conference block, where can I stay?
While there is always the possibility that additional rooms may become available through cancellations, they would not be available at the IML conference rate. You would need to contact the Hilton directly to inquire about availability and rates. (Hilton Chicago: 312-922-4400).

Who do I contact if I have special room needs at the hotel?
Please contact the Hilton Chicago at 312-922-4400 after making your hotel room reservations and you receive your room confirmation. You will need your room confirmation number when contacting the Hilton to let then know of any special needs you have.

Are exhibitors kept separate from others in the same field?
The League reserves the right to relocate exhibitors when necessary. In assigning space, we do attempt to separate vendors in the same field.
As an exhibitor, I just need name tags and hotel reservations. Do I only complete the Exhibit Space Application?
Yes, people manning an exhibit booth should be included on the Exhibit Space Application Form. If any exhibitor plans to attend conference sessions and social functions, they must complete the Advance Registration Form.
Can exhibitors pick the location of their booth?
Exhibitors who participated in the 2015 conference will be given the option of renewing the same booth on June 27, 2016, two weeks prior to general exhibit registration. When general exhibit registration opens on July 11, 2016, booth assignments will be made on a first come, first served basis. Exhibitors will indicate their top six (6) choices on the Exhibit Expo application. Choices are not guaranteed; however, best efforts will be made to accommodate preferences based on availability. Online booth availability is updated daily.
Can I get a list of conference attendees?
Yes, for the first time, IML will provide a mailing a list of conference attendees three weeks prior to the event.
I am an exhibitor. How should I register if I want to attend sessions and social functions?
Any exhibitor must complete the Advance Registration Form if they plan to attend conference sessions and social functions.
If I need to cancel our booth reservation, what is the procedure, time frame and will I get a full refund?
